Who we are

With a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance. While studying, in the past I worked with several non-profit organisations.

As someone who values inclusivity and fair representation, I’m passionate about contributing to projects that celebrate diversity in all its forms. Through my volunteer work in administration, I aim to support the vital operations that empower diverse communities and ensure everyone’s voice has a platform.

I am volunteering one day per week with HERE ALSO, to support them with administration tasks.

I am a qualified counsellor that runs a private practice, offering online sessions as well as walk-and-talk therapy in local green spaces. I also work as a child counsellor within primary schools. In addition, I serve as a Student Learning Mentor with the Black African and Asian Therapy Network, providing support to students of Black, African, Asian, and Caribbean heritage who are training in counselling or psychotherapy. I have also worked as a counselling tutor teaching foundational training courses at both Spurgeon’s College and Goldsmiths University.

I am a of dual heritage, born in Guyana, South America, with Indian Indentured ancestry, as well as European and African descent. I spent a significant part of my childhood in Zambia, while attending boarding school in the UK from a young age. These experiences have deeply influenced my sense of identity and self. In understanding my own journey of home and belonging, I work closely with my clients to explore their cultural influences and how their personal history has intricately shaped their emotional health. I believe in the importance of finding the right spaces to thoughtfully explore our diverse backgrounds and of the profound need we all have of belonging within our communities. By taking the time to understand our roots and the influences that shape us, we can more effectively recognise the common challenges we face as well as the unique strengths we possess, leading to a deeper and more nuanced appreciation of our individual identity. I feel that HERE ALSO upholds such values and will provide these opportunities, therefore I feel it important to support such an organisation.

I was born and brought up in Iran, a country with a rich cultural history. I moved to the UK in 1999, I have been mixing with many different communities, and actively participated in community projects that supported inclusion regardless of differences in individuals’ identities.

As an individual, my identity is shaped by many factors, my age, gender, ethnicity, migration, neurodiversity and … The lived experience of being the other, provided me an opportunity to gain a better understanding of the othering relationships. In my experience, “Respecting individuality & co-existence” is possible. The key factor is, for both sides relating to each others’ human experiences through open conversations instead of perception.

I studied a BA in Visual Communication and an MA in Digital Media. Currently, I am studying a one-year course at Goldsmiths University, Graduate Certificate in Psychodynamic and Humanistic Counselling.

Founding HERE ALSO, I am committed to using the skills and experience gained through life and study to support inclusion.

I am a creative practitioner and educator with many years of experience in the Fashion industry and in the Higher Education sector.

My involvement with HERE ALSO as a non-executive director has grown from our shared values around the importance of inclusion in building community.
